PR Coins

Review a PR or a tech plan, earn coins. Everyone starts with 20. Each review pays 1–3 πŸͺ™ from the author, sized by the work and split equally between everyone who reviews it. Reviewing others is what funds getting your own work reviewed.

What actually keeps the economy moving: the bounty value you reviewed, and the bounty value you shipped (PRs landed and plans published, whether or not anyone reviewed them). A big PR counts up to 3Γ—, nothing is split, and charity reviews count just the same β€” so this won't match wallet balances, and that's the point.

Your wallet, not a score: a low balance usually just means you ship a lot. You earn by reviewing others' PRs and tech plans (approvals, change requests, and real comment reviews all count, split equally between reviewers); you pay when your own work gets reviewed. Broke? One review starts refilling.

Open bounties

PRs and πŸ“„ tech plans awaiting their first human review, newest first, each showing its bounty (PRs: 1–3πŸͺ™ by changed lines; plans: 1–3πŸͺ™ by word count). The bounty splits between everyone who reviews, and you can πŸš€ boost one with up to 3 of your own coins to get it looked at sooner, or πŸ‘ tip the author for the work itself. 🀝 means the author is broke, so reviewing is charity. Quiet for 14+ days = hidden, unless someone πŸš€ boosts it back onto the board.

Stacks in flight

Open PRs chained base-to-tip, the way Graphite builds them: a PR whose base branch is another open PR is riding on top of it. A stack is only visible while it's live, because once the bottom lands GitHub retargets the rest to main and the chain is gone. So this is what's in flight right now, not a season score. A green dot means someone has already reviewed that rung.

Who's funding whom

Net flow = coins earned reviewing minus coins paid for reviews of your own PRs. Green earns more than they pay; red pays more than they earn.

The rules

  1. Everyone starts with 20 coins.
  2. Reviewing a PR or a tech plan earns from its author: approvals, change requests, and comment reviews with substance all count. Rubber-stamping is not the way to earn.
  3. The bounty is sized by the work: PRs pay 1–3 πŸͺ™ by changed lines (200 / 800), plans pay 1–3 πŸͺ™ by word count (2,500 / 5,000).
  4. It's split equally between everyone who reviews β€” no race, no rushing. A PR's bounty is paid when the PR lands, to everyone who reviewed it before then; a tech plan pays each share as that review lands.
  5. Short on coins? You pay what you can. Only an empty balance makes it charity.
  6. Need something reviewed sooner? πŸš€ Boost any open bounty with up to 3 of your own coins; reviewers collect them on top.
  7. Broke? Reviews of your PRs are charity: welcome, but they earn the reviewer nothing.
  8. Bot reviews are ignored. They never earn and never charge, so automation can't drain the economy.
  9. Coins are never minted or burned. It's a real economy.
